no space between tiles??
DH wants to lay tiles right up against each other (no spacers/grout space). He'll still grout to seal the seams.
Wondering if this is okay to do? They're 16" x 16" glazed porcelain tile. He's already set them out dry and the edges are all perfectly matched - no variations to the sides of the tiles and no curving (whatever that's called, they're flat surface).
Please let me know what you think ASAP as he's starting in a few hours
Need some solid backup for why we shouldn't do it, if it's best not to, when giving my 'yay' or 'nay' vote

Don't BUTT them, grout won't get in there, it will chip out, critters and dirt will, space them at least a 1/16" if you like, are they polished porcelain, rectified tile, meaning all the same size?, when he starts setting them in thinset, the joints will start to go off course if butted, no matter how they look now, butting tile is a bad idea, also you sometimes never get 100% coverage on the corners, leaving room for grout to get in there when applied, helps in this case from corners cracking if it weren't there.

Thanks, Tileman. I ended up searching the forum a little more after I posted this thread and came across a similar question and YOUR answer. Showed it to DH and he totally got it - need to have at least some room for the grout to get down in there and do it's job and stay put! So, in the end he ended up using the 1/4" spacers that I'd bought
I secretly wanted to have the grout, anyway, because I just like the look but I wasn't the one who was going to have to do the work so I was leaving it to him to decide. Now we're both happy
Thanks for your help. It's much appreciated by this newbie!
