Question

We recently bought a house with a terracotta tile fireplace facing/surround. It is about 70+ years old and, from the looks of it, hasn't been cleaned in a looooong time. Any tips on cleaning it? It has a pretty heavy accumulation of soot and ash.

Try a mild solution of TSP trisodium phosphate and water. Can be purchased at any hardware store.
