I have never done ceramic tiling before but everyone says it is sooo easy. I want to do a shower floor which is now peeling painted cement. How long must you wait after finishing the project before you can use the shower??

You need to clean the peeling pain before installing tile. Also, a porcelain should be used in a shower floor - glazed tiles would be way to slippery, and just are not intended for this purpose. Porcelain tiles come in 1 x 1, 2 x 2's, etc, with trim pieces available. You will have to cut around the drain, and may be able to find a local tile store willing to do this for you. Good luck - some tile jobs are easy, some require a professional, depending on the job and how you want it to look.
