Slate tiles on wall??

I have a slow combustion stove in the corner of my family room. It's at angle and the walls behind it are drywall.

The stove is not used very often, but when it is, it get very hot.

I would like to put some sort of tile, maybe slate, on the two walls behind the stove. The stove is what I assume regulation distance from the walls - 39" from the wall right in the corner.

Any special considerations or materials needed for this job?

Thanks!!

I assume that since the drywall hasn't caught fire yet, your safe.

Use a good modified thinset for whatever tile or stone you use and go for it.
