Arrow Seal a Slate Fireplace?

Could someone please give me advice regarding a new basement fireplace surround my brother just installed for me that is SLATE? I'm so pleased with it...I'm thinking I should seal it so that it will last as long as possible and add to its beauty. My neighbor saw it and said not to seal it so it will look natural.

Also, I think I need to do this today or tomorrow as the gas inserts will be installed on Tuesday. Any advice would be very appreciated.

Thanks.

Maria

Try Aqua Gold Sealers Choice 15, sold at HD, not cheap but good. It will bring out the color of the stone but wont put a gloss on it.
