New drywall and ceramic tiles.

How should I install the ceramic tiles, direct on the new drywall (unpainted) or apply first the premier and after that install the tiles?

Thanks
Joe

You can go over the unpainted wallboard, as long as it is not in a wet area, like a tub or shower enclosure. For that you need cement board with a vapor retarder behind it.
