I'm laying ceramic tiles in a bathroom that is slightly off square, what is the best starting area to begin laying down the tile (center of room corner etc?) also what is the best and easiest way to compensate for this. the room is about 1/2 inch off and is approx 6'3 by 7'4 and I am putting down 13x13 tile.

I am looking for some general advice. I am buying a new house, that currently has vinyl tile in a very old style(kitchen and bathrooms). I want to update it with ceramic. It seems that this is not particularly difficult, just requiring time, patience, and a few tools. Assumptions correct? Also I am choosing ceramic because I like the look and its known for high durability(planning a grade 4 high traffic type tile), is this correct? As I understand the project I would need to pull up the old vinyl, see what type of subfloor I have, place some type of backer and then tiles. Am I oversimplifying this?
