Can vinyl be placed over a ceramic floor?
We are exploring our options and would like to know the success of painting ceramic floors, going over it with a vinyl floor or what else?

you can sometimes get away with painting tiles that are a wall/vertical surface and maybe even a counter top for a while, but no paint will hold up on floor tiles, what with traffic & cleaning.
you can lay vinyl over them, though, after applying embossing liquid [i think that's what it's called -?] to keep the grid pattern from eventually showing thru the vinyl.
i believe you can also install a floating [plastic] laminate wood floor over tile.
