shower walls

I've got a corner shower stall in one of my bathrooms, I recently gutted all of the old wall tile, which was laid over sheetrock, and installed cement board backing and all new wall tile, everything was fine with the tile job, BUT, twice now i have grouted the tile joints only to have most of them crack, and probably let water get throught to the cement board, i also treated the grout with a grout sealer and waited 48 hrs. before using the shower, I cant understand if it is just crappy grout or i am missing something here?( it was a non sanded wall tile grout from home depot). thanx in advance for any advice.

What is the size of the grout joints? Non sanded grout is only good for 1/8" or less grout joints. Joints that are bigger need sanded grout.

grout

the joints are 1/8, and no, it was dry grout in a bag that i mixed, I've used it before on my other bathrooms walls but they were not exposed to water.
