How much sand and cement

MY son is doing an area of 9.5 ft by 5 ft. I believe the mud job should be 1.5 in deep. In that he is putting about 40 feet of hot water tubing (PEX).How much sand and cement do I need.My math isn't really that good. This mud job is going over 3/4 in boards about 4 in wide.I understand you should put felt paper down under the wire lath so the mud doesnt fall through. Can this be plastic (6mil) instead of felt paper.

I come up with 8 80 lb bags of sandmix and 2 75 lb bags of sand. That's about dead on,including subtracting out the volume of the pex, so grab an extra bag of each. 4 shovels of sand mix to 1 shovel of sand. Use the tar paper to prevent any unwanted vapor retention. Tar paper is vapor emmisive. The assumption was made that the pex is 3/4" od.

And hope and pray that every winter season when you heat up the PEX that you don't also get a hot tar-paper odor from down below.
