Backsplash over painted wall?

Hi,
I want to put a backsplash over my sink, and around the surrounding countertops. The walls over the countertops and sink are new sheetrock, but they have already been painted.

I'm planning on using glass mosaic tile. Do I have to remove the paint first or can I use a modified thinset and glue directly to it?

Thanks

It would have been best not to paint the drywall. Is this paint just a flat latex? If so you'll be fine to use a white modified thinset.

I would agree with Johnny but to be safe you should check with the manufacturer of the glass product as to what modified thinset they specifically recommend for their product. To my knowledge all glass tile makers also want to recommend a particular thinset. Glass tile products seem to have a mind of their own when it comes to getting them to stick and stay.
