Best Tile for Shower

Hi:

Could someone please explain how to choose the best tile for a shower stall? I'm confused by the various types such as ceramic, porcelin, etc.

Obviously, I want the material that is suitable for a shower, but I'm confused by the terms and uses. For instance, could a 1/4" ceramic floor tile also be used in a shower stall?

Thank you, ClarkeBl

For the walls of a shower stall, just pick what you like.
Best if they are smooth rather than pitted or very rough.
You don't want soap and gunk collecting.
You can use floor tiles on a wall, but not visa versa.

Tiles for the floor of a shower should be a little rougher so you don't slip, but smaller tiles that are smooth are okay, since you have more grout to help you.
