Grout Mess on Ceramic Tile

We recently had our bathroom remodeled with ceramic tile and the contractor abandoned the job. He had not finished wiping excess grout from the faces of the tiles and 4 weeks went by before he officially quit. Now the stuff is really tough to get off. We've been scrubbing with nylon brushes and water and it's a painfully slow process. Are there any solvents or better methods for removing this and the dull glaze it's left on our tiles? Will any of these methods (including the nylon brush/water) damage or dull the tiles?

Thanks! EZ

Get Sulfamic acid crystals, mix with water, put in a spray bottle and wet down the tile. Give it a few minutes and rewet then use a scrubbie or a scraper. Just be careful that the solution does not drip onto anything that might be harmed by the acid.
