Ceramic Over Vinyl?

I have removed the top layer of vinyl and 1/4" luan. Then there is original vinyl attached directly to the 3/4" sub floor. I can remove the vinyl itself without too much trouble but it leaves a paper backing on the subfloor. What should I do before installing cbu? What should I do, leave the vinyl, remove the vinyl, leave the backing paper or shoot myself? Thanks in advance for your advice. Any help ASAP would be appreciated!

You need to remove the vinyl and the backing. You can get the backing up by soaking it with very hot water and scraping with a wallpaper scraper.
