Question Ceramic Tile over concrete.

What is the best method for tiling over concrete in a bathroom in a basement? Do you just put the mortar/thinset over the concrete and tile above? Do you need a special type of mortar?
Thanks

What is the condition of the concrete floor. Any cracks? If so describe them. Any paint or sealer on the floor? Put a few drops of water on the floor. Does the floor absorb the water?

Concrete is probably the most ideal surface to lay tile on providing that it is even and solid. For mortar I would use a good modified thinset from a reputable tile store. Not crazy about the HD stuff
