grinding/polishing a new slab, is it a DIY job?
Hello all, new poster here.
I am pouring a new slab in my home, incorporating radiant heat tubes. I would like to leave the floors bare concrete if I can, for best heat transfer, and so as not to have to do additional work (tile would be second choice). I will be using colored concrete, so the pigment will carry through the whole slab.
I have a concrete guy to pour the slab, but he doesn't do any grinding or polishing. If the as poured and troweled surface is not to my liking, I am considering grinding and/or polishing it.
Is this something a reasonably competent do-it-yourselfer should attempt? The local rental place has a machine the bill as a "Twin Head, Terrazo & Concrete Grinder" I could rent for $90/day.
Any hints or advice on doing this?
