removing tile

A few years back I redid my kitchen, and installed ceramic tile on my concrete slab. I am now adding on to the house, and am going to have to remove this tile. What is the most effective way to do this? I expect it to involve a lot of sweat, but some tips would be helpful, so I don't waste my time. thanks

Safety goggles, hammer, chisel, and pry bar. If removing a large area, forum posters report success using a pneumatic chisel from the rental store.
