Drilling Thru Onyx Wall To Mount LCD Bracket

I have a Onyx tiled wall that I wish to attach an LCD mount, but need to drill thru the Onyx for the mounting screws. What type of drill bit must I use? Any help, suggestions or comments would be appreciated. The sub-base of the wall was was reinforced with 1" plywood to accomodate and support the bracket.

Is it real onyx or cultured ? Either way a masonary bit and preferably a hammer drill will go right through it.

I've done it that way and I've also used one of those bits that looks like an arrow that's made for glass. That works as well.

if you can , drill the grout lines .

I wouldn't use a hammer drill , a regular drill will do just fine and I would be concerned the hammer action could crack or chip the tile.
