Exclamation I Need Help!

Good Morning.
I hope somebody can relate to my problem and let me know what I
need to do.
My family and I just moved. In our "new" home, the kitchen has
(initial design) rough, not smooth, small brown ceramic tiles. The grout
was originally black. In MANY areas of the kitchen the tiles seem to
have a whitish residue, including the grout. When I scrub the tiles
with everyting under the sun, ammonia, dish detergent, etc. the tiles
when wet come up dark and vivid again, but when they dry, it's back
to the white residue.
What do I need to do to "strip" the white off of the tiles and grout?
Replace the grout? Stain the grout? Magic cleaning product?
I am clueless and need help.
If anyone knows what I can do, please EMail me at [email protected]
Thanks.

You may have grout haze. They sell haze removers at local Home Depots, etc. Try that and see.
