Pulling up existing tile floor?

I have tile floor that needs to be pulled up. Creaks a lot and after new tub install there is a large gap. There is a layer of thinset then tile. Once I pull up the tile, how to I get the thinset off the floor or do I?

Please advise.

The larger chunks can be removed with a cold chisel and hammer. It's time consuming, but once you get a rhythm going it isn't all that tough. There are also electric or pneumatic chisels for rent that work. The thin layer that is left is oft times not an issue so long as it's well adhered.
