Question Proper tile spacers for shower

Is there a certain spacer width I should use for shower tiles? Should I use the 1/4" I used for the floor? Should I use something smaller like 3/16". Does it even matter? If so, why?

Since I'm using both (what they call) 6" and 13" tiles in the shower, if my math worked out, I need the 1/4" spacers so that everything lines up properly.

Thanks for your insights!

Matt

If you're using 2 different size tiles and one is half the size of the other, then the grout joint size is dictated to you. 2 small tiles + 1 grout joint = 1 big tile.

If your layout is such that it doesnt make a difference what size you use, then grout joint size is really up to you and your personal preference. You can use smaller joints on the wall if thats the look you are going for.
