Tile under a vanity?

I am remodeling a bathroom in my basement and was wondering is it common practice to tile up to the edge of the vanity or tile the entire floor and put the vanity on top?

If you tile under vanity, you do not have to make the cuts to go around it.

If you're remodeling I'm guessing the vanity will be removed? So of course you wouldn't install the vanity until after the floor is installed.

Either or, they'll both work. There are however several advantages to installing the floor first. As has been mentioned, theres less tile cutting involved. Laying out the floor will be easier because you dont have to concern yourself with what size pieces of tile youll end up with at the vanity. Its more likely that youll have to replace the vanity before you have to replace the tile floor. If theres tile underneath the vanity, that wont be a problem. If I have my choice in an installation, Ill always choose tile under the vanity.
