Recommended hardness for porcelain countertop tile?

We're looking at replacing our existing tile counter top with 12x12 porcelain floor tiles.

Is there a minimum PEI rating for kitchen counter top use? I keep Googling this and can't find anything definitive. I assume a minimum of PEI 2 or 3 is reasonable, but I'd like to confirm that.

Thanks.

Go with a 3 or higher. If choosing between a 3 or 4 where you like them both the same, go with the 4. Either one will break just as easily if set incorrectly. The PEI rating is the ability to withstand abrasive wear. Picture sliding the rough bottom of a steel pan across the counter.
