Marble Threshold Question

I installed tile in a half bath over the weekend. I left enough space for a marble threshold to be installed under the door. Does the marble need to be installed on backerboard or can it be installed with thinset right on the subfloor?

Thanks
Olivia

Usually you'd have the CBU under there too. The only exception is if the threshold was real thick. Most threshold are about 5/8" thick, and so they end up about 1/4" above the tiles when installed on the same plane, which is perfect.

So it is okay if the threshold is raised above the tile?

Thanks for your help

Yes, it's supposed to be raised when used for bathrooms. Thresholds are usually beveled too, so no choice.
