Tile over concrete

Hello-

We are converting our garage into a bedroom. We have made a box now we need to put a flooring on the concrete. There is one problem though....it is not even. The floor needs to be level. Is there any way easy so that we can lay down tile on a level floor by pouring something on the concrete? Also anyone have any advice on good prices for tile?

Thank you! steppin

Floor tile can be installed on unLEVEL floors, but the floors need to be FLAT.

If your slab is unlevel (most garage slabs are to make water drain away from walls) then the tile would look odd. To make it level will require a repour ($$$) or a significant SLC application which wouldn't be recommended.

Are there any cracks in this slab?

Thick about installing a membrain, either Schluter Ditra or similar, then tile.

Price var greatly depending on quality of the tile. Range from $.40 sqft to more then $10 sqft.

Mark,

Forty cents? NO!

I've never seen a garage floor that you could simply tile over direct and expect it to last very long. Depending on its condition there may be a good way to do it, but I can't tell from here. That's why we have consultants.

If you can describe and maybe post pictures we might be able to guide you? But good advice for a situation like this requires an inspection.
