my first SLC job

I've got about a 100sf area over a concrete pour that I'm prepping for tile. About a 1/2" or so average thickness to make up with SLC. Is that doable in one operation for the entire area?

I guess the other option is to set these 6x6 slate tiles in mortar. Which is the better option?

Easily do-able but you won't be setting the tile at that time. The tile will later be set in thinset mortar after the SLC hardens. The SLC needs primer and lath.

Lath for SLC on a slab?

Think he meant setting them in mortar as an alternative to using SLC.

I sometimes get confused easily.
