Saltillo tile

One year ago we bought the house we love - a 1952 ranch in deep South Texas. We currently have Saltillo tile in our family room, kitchen and laundry room. The LR/DR and hallway have dark wood laminate. 2 bedrooms have carpeting and the 2 baths have original 1950's hexagonal ceramic tiles. What a mish-mash! We want to replace the bedroom flooring for sure. The baths are still in great shape so we don't want to change them. We are considering putting Saltillo in the bedrooms to keep things more unified. We love the look of the laminate, but because we have 3 dogs it is a bear to keep it looking nice (dog hair and scratches). Should we replace it with Saltillo, too? Many people say Saltillo is too much work, use other tile...but then what would we do with our existing Saltillo? We love the look of the Saltillo, but before we do this big job we want to be sure we are creating a more unified, beautiful, up-to-date, and easy care home that would eventually appeal to others as well. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

I would say if you have a home you like and you like the saltillo, keep it and add more saltillo to the other rooms.
yeah it's some work to find a good saltillo installer and a pain to seal, but you will have a home with saltillo all though it and that would look great.
