Help with Plywood Counter

Cutting 3/4" Ply to install tile counter top do I leave a 2" over hang for drip edge

You can leave 1"-2" overhang.

You need to install a cement backerboard or Schluter Ditra membrane on top of the plywood also. You do not want to install tile directly to plywood.

2" is a pretty big over hang. 3/4" to 1" is what I typically see for the finished overhang. What do you intend to do for the edge treatment?

I've battled with some here in the past over this, but you should be using 2 layers of plywood. 24" deep cabinets where the center of the plywood is unsupported can be too much movement for a single layer of plywood that has to support ceramic or stone tile. Countertops arent made to be walked on but sometimes, kids dont know that. Ive seen my wife standing on our contertops at home to clean the tops of the cabinets.
