Glazed ceramic tiles can have a matte, semi-gloss, or high gloss finish. The glaze is applied to the tile and fired at extremely high temperature.

High gloss can be more slippery and, because they are softer, show scratches more. Matte and textured finishes provide better traction, and scratches and dirt are less visible.

[SIZE=-1]The color of the body depends on what color clay is available in the area where manufacturer is located. Typically, the body of the tile is red or white. Quality has nothing to do with color. Quality of the manufacturer determines tile quality.

What brand and style tile is it? If you got the tile at a big box store, it will be glazed. We never sold any non glazed ceramics.

You said the backs of the tiles are "that red brick color". So I'll assume the tile surface is not red? OK, so they are glazed, I sometimes call them "decorated".

Some people think that "glazed" means shiny. As mentioned above there are glazes of all types. A glazed tile can be dull and rough to smooth and shiny, and any combination in between.

There are many unglazed tiles made such as quarry or porcelain.

i had a brain cramp, they are not red, they are gray, make in spain.
if you want to see pics. go to HGTV, general decorating, "dull tiles" .
i have to deside on a grout color, now, :-/
