how to clean slate shower, calcium, clr?

im not sure how to clean my slate shower, everything seems to come off ok other then then calcium, or whatever that white stuff is all over my grout. the grout was dark grey but now the whole floor is pretty much white.

i have used a few cleaners but really nothing is even touching it.

i bought some clr and was ready to use it but it says not to use on natural slate. so i havent touched it.

also i have something leaching in my tiles all around the tiles on the walls. i did seal my tiles but i guess that was over 6 months ago. now im afraid of sealing because i dont want to seal this crap in.

oh help me!!!!

TB...you may want to repost over in the cleaning or bathroom forums as well...

Though I am a bit surprised there haven't been any responses. Maybe the tile guys know all about installing..but not about cleaning...lol.

Building a slate shower to me is "brain fade". Not a good idea at all.

Tina,

That wasn't for you. You probably know by now that slate in a shower may not have been the best choice.

Just trying to prevent others from making the same mistake.

This was pointed out in your original thread when you were building that shower. Unfortunately, slate really isnt a good choice for a shower for the reasons you describe.

well the problem isnt so much witht slate for now. the major issue is the calcium on the grout.

i guess there is a reason ppl dont put dark grout in a shower.

You could try AquaMix, but the problem won't go away. A real good quality slate will not do this.....
