Glass Tile

I had a contractor friend help me install some 3/4" glass tiles in my bathroom. We tiled over old existing tile and leveled out whatever dips there were with thinset. The problem I realize now is that he chose the wrong thinset for the job. He used Mapei Type One. While most of the tile is set, there is one small area where the cement is a little soft where it came through the tile space. It's been more than 2 weeks. My question is do I really have to rip it all up and start again or will this work if I use an epoxy grout. Like I said, the tiles seem pretty stable. I'd hate to spend another $300 o tiles!

Why didn't you take down the old stuff? This is a backsplash, right?

Using adhesive, like he used on glass tile is a no-no. I would begin to take it down and wash off the adhesive and use the recommended WHITE thinset.

Unfortunately it is 1/8" small tile. Can't bring it down without destroying. Should I go ahead and grout or will it all turn to mush after the first shower? The tiles are all set.

What??? I have never seen tile that small. You sure about that. Mastic in a shower is asking for trouble.

Sorry- 3/4 square tile. It would be impossible to save it. I might try it and see if it holds.
