sister joist screws

I recently tore up the old floor(tile and mud) in my bathroom.

Now I need to use sister joists to help strengthen the subfloor.

What type of glue and screws should I use to attach the new sister joists to the old joists?

Thanks!

Try "Sisters for Bouncy Joists" on the web. There is a detailed response from Mr. Bob Villa (with a drawing!).

Shoeless, what is wrong with asking it here? That is the point of this forum. The point of this forum is not to direct someone elsewhere...

Saying that,

Any PL adhesive would be fine. What size joists are we talking about here? If using 2x material, I would just use some 3" decking screws spaced 6-8" apart top and bottom.

Yep, I agree..heavy duty PL construction adhesive in an M pattern, with a bead top and bottom, and screws, or better yet, use a framing nailer with 2 1/2" nails,if you have access to one. The one problem you MAY have with screws, unless you clamp the joists, they may not pull tight.

Not trying to direct people elsewhere. Just thought it was a useful explanation (with a handy illustration). Sistering joists can be a difficult task when it comes to getting the new joist to fit in place.
