Recoloring or reglazing ceramic tiles
#1

I have nice 8x8 ceramic tiles on my bathroom floor and on the hearth of the fireplace in the adjoining bedroom. Only trouble- they are a very outdated color, mauve, which I never liked anyway!! I read somewhere about reglazing tiles but don't know how to go about it and am doubtful it would hold up in the bathroom.
If I decide to put down new tile, can I lay it over the old if I select a new one that's not too thick? Thanks for your help.

Regarding the Re-glazing of tiles, I'm afraid that is something I have never had to deal with, thus I can offer no advice to that. On Laying tile over existing tile...My first option would be to remove the old tile and replace them with the new tiles, but that is not to say that I have never done what you are asking. Providing the existing tile is stable {I am assuming it is considering you want to lay on top of it} You can lay new tile over them. Merely keep in mind to maintain a uniform thickness of adhesive {i.e. Liquid-nail} during your installation.
Hope this aids you . Please keep us up to date!
