Painting Unglazed Ceramic Tile

I would like to know if unglazed ceramic tile can be painted? If so, what type of paint and sealer should I use to maintain the appearance?

As you've probably seen in my other response, I don't really think painting over tile is a wonderful idea. If you still think you might want to regardless, perhaps a local paint supplier might offer you some suggestions.
