ceramic and subfloor

I have a new addition that has a 3/4 OSB T&G flooring on it 16" on center. It is about 430 sq ft and I am planning on tiling it all. What do you recommend . do I need a floor covering , any suggestions would be great. I have heard to lay down underlayment and have also heard to tile right over OSB ???

You need a stiff subfloor for tile. If it flexes with the tile installed, the tile will crack. I recommend using 1/2" cement board. Spread thinset over the floor and lay th concrete board in the thinset. Then nail or screw the concrete board down going by the manufacturers recommendations. Get some cement board joint tape and finish the cement board joints as you would drywall. Your tile goes over the top of the cement board. Be sure your floor is stiff and lay the cement board in the opposite direction your wood subfloor goes.

RL thanks for the info , as it stands right now there is not 1 inch of flex in this floor, we used 2x10 joist all through it with Liquid nail on the joist also nailing it down and with me jumping up and down on it there is not a bit of movement , and I am not the lightest person
