Question

Does anyone know the proper way to set a marble counter top on a bathroom vanity? The piping itself is not sufficient to keep the counter top from shifting when bumped. Both plummers putty and adhseive caulk state clearly that they are not for use on Marble, so what is? Thanks!

Cool

Hi yes2man;
If this is a cultured marble top or a natural marble top ?
well either way I usually use a product called PL400 it is a construction adhesive very similar to "liquid nails" which will also work. It comes in a tube (like caulk) and is available almost everywhere.
Put a small "bead" all the way around the top edge of the cabinet and place the top. No need to over do it.(you don't want it squeezing out all over the place.)
The reason that plumbers putty,adhesive caulk,and many types of ceramic tile glue, are not recommended for marble (especially light colored marbles) is they leave a nasty grease spot on the marble that will never go away. If the top is cultured marble, (you can tell by looking at the back if its smooth its natural marble (usually) if it has hundreds of little air bubble marks its "Cultured" (usually))It can be installed the same way but, I don't know how it reacts (if at all) to other substances like plumbers putty etc.
Good Luck
