Question Have Cement Foundation - Use a Schluter-DITRA Membrane before tiling??

I am redoing my bathroom floor and want to lay ceramic tiles. I pulled up our existing floor and we have a concrete foundation (throughout the entire place).

From what I understand, I should not use a backer board.

Should I lay a Schluter-DITRA Membrane?

Or do I tile immediately over the concrete?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

Hi Libby

If the concrete slab is in good condition, you can set tile right to the slab. Lets make sure the slab is in good condition.

Are there any cracks in the slab? If so describe them. Are there any slab moisture problems? Has the concrete slab been sealed or painted? Is the slab flat? Run a long straight edge over the floor to find dips and high spots, and let us know what you find.
