Grout bag vs. float

I tried to use a float on the slate floor I layed in my kitchen, but it was really hard to scrape the grout off with the float because of the uneven surface of the slate. I was wondering if a grout bag would be better?? I also need to do vertical walls in my shower.ThanxJim

The grout bag will allow for a more precise distribution of the grout eliminating a great deal of clean up. Are the vertical walls in your shower slate as well?
