Radiant Heat/Asbestos Floor Tile
I have asbestos tile in kitchen that I'm covering with a coat of KILZ, a new subfloor and slate tile. Can I install radiant heat.

Are you sure it's asbestos? Have you had it tested?
Installing slate and any natural stone requires a floor structure twice as stiff as that required for ceramic tile. You need to determine if your floor joists are stiff enough. Additionally, every stone installation requires 2 layers of plywood totalling a minimum of 1 1/4" in thickness.
My opinion, leaving the vinyl tile isn't a good idea, it really needs to go.

yes you can install a heated floor
once you have your underlayment down, install a heating system.i use warm wire.place heated wire, then level floor with a mortar bed.let cure then place tile.the square footage unit should be about 50%of the amount of tile being used.thats on 2.5 centers.just keep in mind location of your thermostat.also keep loudmouth curcuit alarm hooked up while installing.
