Vinyl Removal for Ceramic Tile
I am going to tile my 120 sq ft kitchen with porcelain tile, but it now has sheet vinyl over concrete. I have looked at some long handled floor scrapers and one is 7 inches wide and the other is 14 inches wide. Is wider better or more difficult to use?
I noticed the blades on the long handled scrapers are square edge and not sharpe like a knife while the small hand scrapers are razor sharp. Is square edge for rough work and sharp edge for adhesive clean-up?
What is the most effective way to remove the vinyl and the adhesive in preparation for the tile?

I use a 7inch scraper. I was lucky though, my old floor pulled up very very easily. I had my 120sqft kitchen pulled up in less then 10 mins. Some minor scraping to get some residual adhesive up though.
Also, a heat gun helps alot if your floor is stubborn. Your arms and hands will probably be pretty sore.
I always recommend wear safety glasses and a dust mask.

wider is harder. use a 4" razor scraper and change blades often. if u pull off the top layer of the vinyl and the paper and adhesive remains wet with water let soak 30 min. then scrape that will make life easier.
