Help. I've been trying to figure out how I can place some beautiful antique 6" X 8" tiles haphazardly and aesthetically among 4" X 4" tiles. Is it possible?

Hi gward;
Unfortunately I don't think you can do that without cutting one or the other. Unless you make the joints huge and believe me you don't want to do that. Better to go out and purchase some more 6"x8" plain tiles to mix with your antique ones!

ceramic tiles on top of cork with 7mm ply?

We're having our kitchen floor tiled with terracotta tiles. Our existing floor has cork tiles which have bubbled up in places. When I got home from work today I found that the people doing the job, instead of removing the cork tiles and laying 12mm plywood, have covered over the bobbling tiles with 7mm ply. I rang them and they assure me that they've removed the loose tiles, and that the weight of the tiles will hold the cork down. My reference books say that cork tiles MUST be removed, and that a 12mm ply is minimum. The workmen are coming to start laying the tiles in the morning. Any views? Read More
