Grouting tiles

Man, after finishing laying all the 17 X 17 tiles in my kitchen, I thought I was done with the hard part. But I've realized grouting is the pain in the butt and seems to take me as long as tiling itself. I'm laying out the grout and cleaning it after 15 minutes when it get a little stiffer to smooth out the lines and slightly bring up the excess grout off the tiles. I then wait 45 minutes before I clean the tiles really thoroughly to avoid grout haze. But it looks like I'm having to pass over the same tiles 3-4 times before it is completely clean.

Am I don't something wrong? I'm scrubbing pretty hard each time with the grout sponge to clean the tile (avoiding the grout line itself).

Nope, you're doing it right. You should be at the stage, now, where you can use a dry towel to remove the haze. Continuous use of a wet cloth will only cause a haze to reappear. The dry towel will actually "polish" the haze off, similar to waxing your car.
