I know Terrazo is all the rage, but I just inherited a family home with terribly stained, neglected terrazo floors. I was told that to use peel and stick tile or wood floors that I would need to etch it by using muratic acid & water. Is this true, or will it stick without doing that?

Chuhu,

If you put peel and stick over that wonderful terrazzo floor I will find out where you live, come up there and tell all your neighbors you have no taste!

Just kidding. I don't know a lot about peel and stick, except that it tends to stick to everything. It's impossible to take up. The only thing I would worry about would be wax or some other grease on the surface.

Clean the surface with amonia (watch the fumes) and rinse thoroughly with clean water. Allow the floor to dry overnight, and peel and stick your heart away.

The people you sell the house to one of these days will curse you, but hey, that's down the road, eh?

Post Cleaning Terazzo

I just want to clean dirty and stained tile & grout. And then seal it. Since I live in a rental, any low-cost suggestions?
