porcelain tile when can walk on

Question

i am going to install porcelain tile on kitchen floor. the kitchen is in center of my house and has to be walked on to get to rear of house, after laying tile it says to let set overnite. my question can i walk on tile before it is set.i will need to get from living area to bedroom and the only way is through the kitchen. help!! thanks very much. merry christmas!

Hi Sunni,

My main business is tile remodeling, and we encounter your situation frequently. When you tile the floor, leave out a few tiles (sort of like stepping stones) through the area you need to travel through. The next day you can set those pieces and mark them with masking tape or party balloons or whatever. Let them set overnight, and then do your grouting.

As I indicated, we work in people's homes every day, and we have yet to move anyone into Motel 6.
