prep work for laying ceramic tile on concrete
Removed linoleum and carpet pad from concrete and going to lay ceramic tile. The carpet pad was glued as well linoleum, so what is the best way to prepare the concrete after removing the carpet pad and linoleum. Do I just scrap as much up as I can then lay tile?
Will the thin set hold?
Do I need to use something to clean the glue off first or "prime" the floor with something so the thin set holds?
Thanks in advance for the advice!!

Dont use any chemicals to try to remove the remaining glue. Residue from chemicals and the glue can get absorbed into the slab and negatively affect thinset bond. Remove as much of the glue as possible by scrapping. Ideally, only a stain should remain. Back breaking work but it has to be done that way.
Do not prime/seal the floor with anything. The slab must be able to absorb water for the thinset to properly bond to it. Use a good quality modified thinset to set the tile.
What shape is the slab in? Are there cracks in the slab? If so, describe the cracks? Is the slab flat, or are there low spots that need to be filled or high spots that need to be ground down? If the slab is painted or sealed, you'll need to grind the entire slab to remove the paint or sealer.
Why are you removing the carpet and linoleum? Were there water/moisture issues?

The cement is not painted or sealed. Does not appear to have cracks from what I have seen. It is not real level so I was looking to maybe use some self leveling to address that. I was mainly concerned about the glue residue. We purchased the best flexible thin set they had at Lowes. I will get to scrapping glue:-)
The reason for removal of previous floor is due to flooding - house got about 2 ft in it.
