Shower curb design

I'm doing a tiled shower and I am going to put a single piece of granite on the top.
The question is, is it proper to have an overhang? How much? I'm guessing 1/2 to 1 tile thickness. Also is it common to use 3/4 thick granite and not build up the edges to make it look thicker?

Cosmetically you can do whatever you want. As for how much overhang I think that depends on your materials. Personally, if there is a good contrast between the tile & cap stone I like a bit more overhang. If capping with the same tile I don't like any overhang.

Just make sure the height of the curb meets code.
