Question

my daughter dropped a mineral crystal deoderant stick in our sink and put a hole approximately the size of an orange in the sink. I have heard there are ways to patch the sink (we still have the pieces), can this be done, is it something an amateur could do and is it worth the effort (meaning will the sink be leakproof, cost effectiveness, etc)?

What kind of sink is it , a bathroom sink , kitchen sink ?
If it is a bathroom sink and not set in tile it should not be terribly expensive to replace. If it is a kitchen sink you probably can get it repaird, but odds are very good you wont be happy with the repair in a month or two.
