Re-Color Grout

I have just finished having river rock tiles installed on my shower floor - grouting was completed yesterday - today I look at the color and it is all wrong!!! I know from reading other threads that grouting on top of existing does not work well. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can change the grout color. OR can I put a scratch coat of new grout on top - is there any new products designed for this purpose - or can I paint it and if so what type of paint would be best.

HELP!!!

Welcome to the forums.

Best results will be with removing the grout and putting in the correct colored grout.

I've only used it once but they make grout dye. I've also used thinned down paint a few times - builder's decision, and that seemed to have worked ok.

I don't know how epoxy grout would work over river rock (might be a cleanup problem) but I wonder if a scratch coat of epoxy grout would have enough adhesion to cover the existing stuff.

That said, if I really hated the grout color I would probably bite the bullet and regrout the floor.
