Ditra Question
I have a new house. Joists are 2x10s, 16"OC, 12 ft. spans. Subfloor is TruFlor 3/4" t&g OSB panels. Pretty standard stuff. I've done multiple tile jobs in the past, always using Hardi... but I want to graduate to Ditra just because it seems so much easier to use. I read the Ditra manual and it says that with a SINGLE layer of 3/4" OSB subfloor with the joist specs I listed above, I should be able to put Ditra directly on the subfloor. Yet every forum I read shows people adding 1/2" plywood on top of the subfloor, then Ditra. Am I reading the manual incorrectly?

You're right, those other forums are wrong. Nothing wrong with your reading ability. Although the more the better, a single 3/4" OSB or ply in good condition is a good base for Ditra or any CBU in preparation for tiles.
Maybe those people just wanted to raise the floor more?
