Replace cement board section
I am trying to replace a section of a shower with new tile and cement board. I have removed the old tiles and cement board. However, the edges of the remaining cement board are not exactly even because the cement does not break evenly like blueboard. What is the proper way to do this (see image)?

Going to need a Roto Zip with a tile cutting blade or a 4-1/2 right angle grinder with a diamond blade.
Not going to be able to install anything until you address the lack of 2 X's to attach it to.
You can not just attach it in the middle like that.
Even then it's going to leak at the seams unless you remove more tile around the patch so it can be taped and waterproofed.
